Working On You

For the longest time, whenever I got stressed, I would just run. It was such a comforting outlet for me because I could create different routes to run and just clear my mind. However, running is not always the easiest or most accessible thing to do. Some people have bad ankles, some people just hate running in general, etc. Eventually as I got older, I realized that even though running was a passion for me once it my life, it doesn't always have to be, and I can't get mad at myself for that. I used to beat myself up so much because I couldn't run like I used to. I always thought that since I could run however many miles then, I should be able to now. It was just a harsh mentality to have on myself.
The point of my post this week is just to remind myself - and anyone who may be reading this - that it is okay to do things differently than you used to. So what if you can't run six miles everyday? So what if you don't make it to the gym six days a week or eat healthy everyday? Life is all about balance and that is something I am still learning to manage as well. I just have to remind myself sometimes that it is okay to take breaks or not go as hard in the gym some days. It's hard to get out of that routine mentality because once it's a part of you, it's difficult to let go. But just remember, go easy on yourself. You trying is all you can ask for.
Don't beat yourself up. You're working on you and that's what matters.
